I am employed in a very stable job, 40h/week and I plan not to quit it for now.
I should graduate from my MBA concentration in technology management next year.

At that point I would like to find a part-time job perhaps as a consultant in whatever I can to make extra money and help me pay the student loan.

Has anyone in this forum managed to set up a consultancy business that requires you to work less than 20 hours/week in order to keep you primary full-time job ?
If so, let me know the strategies and what type of business is this.

If you have lots of contacts in the industry then you can set yourself up doing consulting because you already have your foot in the door so you can make it flexible on your time and do very little marketing. I run a convenience store consulting and inventory management business on the side that pays more net income than my regular job and only requires around 10hrs a week plus I have 1 full time employee. There is no way I would have gotten any of my clients if I didn't already know them from them being customers of my family's company that I work with on their wholesale fuel accounts. This situation wouldnt work for most people because of the conflict it creates but if you can create a situation that doesn't conflict with your regular position's company you can do something successful with little or no money and time spent on sales as this will be your biggest time and money consumer when trying to start a consulting company. For many people consulting-contract work means poor and or/out of a job.
