I am working on my MBA (from a top 20 US b-school).
I have many years of IT experience (design and systems implementation). I know that I love being a techie, but I am not sure if I will do well as a pure manager.

That said, I like my current job and I would like to keep it. It is a low-stress, 40 hours/week job and I don't think I can take the risk of losing it.

My plan is find a part-time position (up to 20h/week) where I can work as a product manager to see if I enjoy it.

Anyone there has any strategy on how to find a part-time job as a product manager ? My available schedule would be from 4:00PM-7:00PM and I would be available to work an entire day full-time every other week.

Comfort and security is nice but why are you spending all the money to go to business school to stay at the same place? Business don't pay big salaries to people with low stress 9-5 M-F jobs. I also don't know of any part time jobs that would utilize an MBA degree. Also not sure what field you are trying to be a "product manager" in as it can mean a different position in different companies and industries. The only way your going to move up and be a success is by taking risks and having ambition. I know of only two widely available jobs that pay big money: sales and management. Both require hard work, involve stress, and usually more than 40hrs a week. I don't have any experience with chiropractors, dentists, orthodontists, etc. but I am sure their jobs aren't easy.
