Just to give some of my work and educational background. I am currently an officer in the USN. I work in the Civil Engineer Corps. I have about 5 yrs work experience with several multi million dollar MILCON (Military Construction) projects and currently managing 4 military and two civilians.
I currently finishing my Online MBA Degree with Touro University it is Regionally accredited and not AACSB. My GPA for my MBA is at about a A- (3.77).
My undergrad was Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota (#1 in the US for Chem Eng.). My GPA there was about a B- (2.77). While doing my undergrad I had two internships at 3M.
Now for the question:
I am wondering what kind of salary I should expect starting as a possible manager of engineers? What job opportunities will I be presented with?
Also some ideas for careers that may fit my educational background and work experience.

My commitment with the military is up Spring of 2006 so I am starting the process of job and career searching.

Any ideas or suggestions ??
Also guesstimates on Salaries??

Thanks

With your military background you would receive precedence over other candidates in government positions or for government contractors. It sounds like you gained a lot of experience in the military and working for 3M will probably help out even though it was some time ago. Since you have leadership skills and management experience you chances of landing a mangement job are good but you should still keep your options open to other possibilities.

Salaries are tough to estimate unless you go into specifics including where you plan on living. You can use salary.com to estimate what you think your worth but chances are most people pay slightly less than what salary.com has listed.

Are you coming back to Minnesota or is it too cold for you? It was about -30 F last week here in the metro. :)

Thanks for your response. I feel like I have been out of the loop in away since I have been in the military and want to be prepaired and aware of what to expect.
In the mean time I will be doing lots of research. If you have any good sources for jobs and employeement please shoot them my way.
Thanks again Philip White

I hate to give props to monster.com but if you have a good resume, and the economy is decent, you will get a lot of contacts by having it up there.

I'm not an expert on career advice but from what I've seen, a lot of engineers who go on to get MBAs go into to opperations management. Engineering builds a good background for process control etc.
