MBA was a waste of time, effort and money. It depends if you know the right people Etka.

MBA is only a waste of time effort and money if you have the wrong attitude.

Malc81- What would you say your attitude is? Is it "I have an MBA- I am entitled to a high paying job, I don't have to prove myself, bust my ass, or hustle." Or do you have the attitude "My MBA gave me tools to suppliment my already great attitude, excellent hustle, team work abilities, and stellar work experience."?

I know what you mean but no. I cannot prove myself if I do not get the chance to do so. My priority is not getting a high paying job however its about getting a job where the MBA could come of use.

To be frank I do not have alot of experience however I ty my best. Before a interview I do my best to find out aas much as possible about company and try to make a relivant report on the company ex if its a job on marketing i do a marketing report on a brand.

I do try my best but as yet the mba was of no use to me

Don't dispair Malc. It seems that it's a reoccuring theme on this board.

The first job out of University is always the toughest to get. Once you get it, however, I think you'll find an MBA to be a great benefit to you in your career. Not just in the first job after graduation, but in the longer term future as well!

Frankly I donno what to do now. Leave country , keep on pushing or taking a ACCA however based on my experience at least in my country its who you know that counts not having a mba.

Hi guys,
where ever you are in this world it's all about who you know, that's what's called REFERAL. But at the same time you need to have SUBSTANCE, so that people can always refer to you or your skills. Again, its not all about sitting down and assuming that an MBA degree will open doors for you....not everyone who went to Harvard has a good job or is making it. So my point is that it all boils down to YOU, and What you can offer. Then..the MBA degree complements and then gives you an advantage. You need to be PROACTIVE and SMART. Make sure you are a living body of knowledge and skills, then the MBA will be of GREAT USE!!!

Who you know is important early on. Sometimes you have to go out and sell yourself just to get the referrals. Having a little humillity is much better than being unemployed. After you build some experience its a bit easier to find work.

LOL! I have a few unemployed MBA friends with no humility and lots of student loan debt.

Talking of debt...That's a very big issue that almost every student is dealing with. Whats the best advice to give to people that are not yet in debt, but are inevitably going to go into it?

Watch the interest rates and only borrow what you absolutly need. :)
