I brought up possibility of employment at defense industry in a couple of threads in this forum, but many people are taking it quite seriously despite great risk of losing their lives.

Halliburton's 39 workers have been killed in Iraq, yet 250 people still lined up just outside the Houston Hilton to apply for positions in Iraq for Halliburton(I learned this from Financial Times (http://news.ft.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=FT.com/StoryFT/FullStory&c=StoryFT&cid=1086940180945)). Life is tough ...

I won't pretend to be an expert, but here's a thought. The pay is probably extremely good. I know that back in the mid 90s, salaries in Saudi Arabia were tax free and 2x what the same positions paid here in the States.

Again, based on my admittedly limited knowledge, it appears reasonable a truck driver could be making 250K or more tax free for going to Iraq and pitching in to help fight terrorism. Perhaps many of us would pass on that opportunity, but they only need to fill a rather limited number of positions in Iraq and a couple hundred job applicants doesn't surprise me too much.

Well, there's my $0.02.
