I think google has changed a bit in the past months. I've also gotten a huge number of hits from unknown search bots which I think might be the new ms search engine but who knows. I think if you have a lot of content, are fairly well linked, and atleast have some meta tags you should be pretty well off.

And beware of those phony sites that promises to give you thousands and millions of hits and improve your ranking drastically.
