Terry Semel and Jerry Yang spoke at the common wealth club(http://www.commonwealthclub.org/) at the end of the last month(while moderated by Kara Swisher) and they were talking about search engines; http://zdnet.com.com/1601-2-5168348.html. It was right after Yahoo switched to its own search engine. They were saying that, from consumer point of view, so many problems were still unsolved in terms of internet search. I was listening to it, and then I thought, "You know what, that's so true." Companies like Google made huge improvement in search over the last several years, but it is still such a primitive technology from consumer point of view.

Yahoo reports that MSN will be launching its own version of search engine this July; http://biz.yahoo.com/rc/040319/tech_micros...t_search_1.html (http://biz.yahoo.com/rc/040319/tech_microsoft_search_1.html). Generally, any IT project will be behind its schedule, so I expect that the new search engine will be launched at the end of this year or so, but something to keep a close eye on.

I could see it arriving on time. It probably wont have all of the bugs out until the end of the year though.
