Well, everybody probably knew about this already, but I thought I should still mention it, since it's quite an event on the net. Yahoo dropped Google for its search last week. It had been rumored for quite some time, but it finally took place. I guess that the bottom line is money, not in terms of today's revenue, but in terms of huge potential in the future. Many believe that the internet search market is just being discovered and we just begun to see its huge potential. Yahoo is apparently one of them and they apparently believe that it's worth investing hundreds of millions of dollars(maybe over a billion); they may even believe that this is about survival not about prospering.
As I read reports here and there, indexed pages are actually kind of old though some search results appear to be more relevant than Google. We'll need to wait for a couple of weeks at least to see how well it really performs. It's also interesting to see how Yahoo will provide its service as the company focuses on generating revenue more. We'll see ...
