Social networking service is said to be one of the next big things on the net. You might have heard of companies such as Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com and Friendster http://www.friendster.com/. Well, Google is also joining in the space and their version is called Orkut http://www.orkut.com/. Apparently, these companies were not over-funded like many tech companies were during the dot-com era, but from what I know, none of these companies are not making any money yet.

I read the news.com article. Very interesting. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It's good to get them to your site and keep them on it. My gut is that if you gain their trust and give them very targetted advertising, it might work. I thought my.yahoo.com was going to succeed there, but I don't believe they tracked which ads their users clicked on, etc.

Apparently, some social networking site decided to charge for the service; Tickle http://web.tickle.com/ is the site. Curious to see how it's going to perform.
