Contextual ad programs such as AdSense and AdWord appear to be working really well. In fact, that's what led Google to where she is today. I am curious to see what they are trying to do with email management portals, but can it bring such a huge commercial success as AdSense and AdWord? Any thought?

Apparently, the domain
www.googlemail.com has been registered; however, nothing is there yet.

I'm just hoping google doesn't turn into a spam machine like hotmail.

If we look back, Google did not exactly solve spam on web(meta tags and repetitive keyword use, cloaking, etc) entirely, but I think Google solved some of it. I'm kind of hoping that, what Google will introduce will facilitate to solve at least a part of email spam. If Google can do that, they will have a huge success in email ads as well.

They have my support if they plan to market their email system as more spam free than the others.

Google just announced their free email service - that WILL have contextual ads in there . . . . but I think this will be OK
I have a yahoo email account and I don't really mind the ads
I just wish they were more targeted -

Since it's Google who's introducing new service, I kind of expect something new, something that is at the next level, or even next next level in terms of technology; combination of webmail and contextual ads does not sound that amazing to me. We'll see.

Since its google it will probably be really simple and efficient. I already have too many email accounts.

I was just thinking about this, and well, I guess I'm just speaking of my hope, but here's what I'd like to see in email some day. Search in email is messy. It kind of works, but it doesn't work well. I think if search works well, it will make email so much more useful.
