It is inevitable that we will be seeing online TV ads in near future, but I personally feel that it's a little early to launch. Infrastructure is still unstable and immature; the bandwidth is simply not there. Processor power...? Maybe ready, maybe not.

If you watch new clips from msnbc.com they have been running commercials for some time. Fox News usually runs promos for their News shows before they play clips.

Needless to say I'll be adding a few sites to my blocked list so I don't have to deal with this garbage.

Oh, that's what they mean by TV commercial ... I get it now. That's pretty unoriginal. Papers are writing about it, so I thought it's something more creative. CNet network http://www.cnet.com/ has been running ads like that for some time now in their webcast. I heard once that mass media is always 6 months behind or something like that, but apparently it is very true.

Well I think you are right. I read one of the articles and it said something about a new technology that loaded compressed video in the background and opened when you clicked on links playing a 30 second commercial in the full browser area. Your probably right about it killing slow computers. I bet a good deal of computers sub 1 ghz would die if a full browser window turned into a commercial.
