Apparently the auto industry did not do so well last year:

Even if we consider the current state of the economy, personally, I wouldn't see any growth in the industry. Well, it's not like it will stop growing, but I just don't think that it's a great place to invest your money. ... would you put your money in there? Probably there are opportunities in the industry if you try to establish a career in the industry, but I just don't see it as a great investment opportunity. Anyone? Any comment?

The used-car business from Japan to Africa is hot. I know a company called the TAL Group is big time stepping into it. Infact, I was about take up a consulting project for them on market entry into Mumbasa in Africa. But I preferred something else over it.

It is incredible how often car commercials are played on a daily basis! Therefore, car sales will remain stable and do well from years to come. The only factor that will affect car sales is the high rising of petroleum price in the U.S.

The 7 year payment plans, low interest rates etc, are gong to place many folks in a severely upside down position when it comes to their next vehicle. The throw in all the lease options, and the new car market is going to be in a tight spot imho.

So I asked my dealer freind his thought... he wouldn't comment other than saying he is very concerned.....
